“Mitch Messina: Reluctant Figure

(~60’)

Mitch Messina is Professor of Sculpture and Ceramics at Nazareth College of Rochester. His extensive work, which is shown in multiple exhibitions and publications, explores how advancements in tools and technology have transformed the nature of human interaction.

“This lecture will focus on the organic evolution of figurative imagery into my sculpture. My work is centered on a narrative that examines an emotionally alienated society devoid of authentic human contact.  For the past few years, I have continued to question the weakening of genuine human interaction caused by the technological erosion of our time.”
