SHOW REVIEW

Member Gallery Loree Harpole

Loree Harpole began "formal" training in drawing and painting with the encouragement of Sari Gaby in Rochester, NY some time in 1992. From there, she studied for several years with John Yerger, an American Realist painter from the Hudson School in Buffalo, NY. During that time, her first participation in a Two-Women art exhibit of pastel paintings in Buffalo, NY resulted in a sell-out.
In 1999, she left a 17 year-career in financial services and launched a School-to-Career program for high school students taught in her private studio. Six schools and 65 students participated in this federally funded project with 8 students receiving average merit scholarships of $35,000.00 to continue post-secondary studies in the arts.

Additionally, Loree enrolled at SUNY Empire State College, moved to Manhattan for SUNY's Studio Semester as part of her professional development. She took advantage of classes at the Art Students League, where she met and began to study with Nelson Shanks, along with his professionally trained assistants. Over a 2 1/2 year period, she took numerous workshops with Daniel Greene, NA as well as workshops at Shanks' school, Studio Incamminati , in Philadelphia, PA and at the Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Loree is currently pursuing figurative sculpting, photography, and the ever-demanding desire to expand her painting skills. She lives in the city of Rochester with her beloved cat, Floyd.
