Art has always been a strong influence in my life. Arrangements of colors , shapes and lines often fascinate me. I enjoy drawing and painting and have done so in one form or another most of my life,--often for my own pleasure or to entertain and instruct children during my career as a teacher.
After retirement I began to take the study of art more seriously. I have taken many classes at the Creative Workshop and have studied with many fine teachers, among them Steve Carpenter, Fred Lipp and Sari Gaby.
I like to capture the effects of light and shadow to reflect a mood in a painting. The changing colors of nature during the seasons is another favorite subject. Sometimes I put people in the landscapes. I enjoy painting pictures of people going about their daily activities.
I am a member of the Irondequoit Art Club and the Pittsford Art Group. I have exhibited in their shows and have received both merit and juror's awards from these groups. As a member of the recently created NY Figure Study Guild, I am looking forward to enriching my knowledge of figure painting and drawing through its activities.
