“I paint directly from life because that is where truth is. The people I paint are my greatest inspiration. They are engaged in the painting process in a personal way that shows in the final work. When my portraits seem ready to speak or laugh, my sitter and I have accomplished it together.”
Christian Kolupski began as an illustrator in NY City, studying under Ed Salazar and Joseph Brown. As he transitioned into portraiture, Christian attended classes at The Art Student's League of New York with Dean Keller, Everett Raymond Kinstler, and Nelson Shanks. He later continued his studies with Nelson Shanks at his Philadelphia atelier Studio Incamminati.
Christian exhibits throughout western New York, Colorado and Utah, and has works in public and private collections around the world. He is the director of Boxart Street Atelier, a privately owned school of drawing and painting in Charlotte, NY. He currently resides in Rochester, NY with his wife Michele and their daughter Violet.
